A new study by 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the rate of death’s on the nation’s highways using data from 2013. Utah was found to be the 9th safest state highway safety. While Utah is a safer environment for driving with only 7.6 highway deaths per 100,000 people per year, the citizens of Utah where slightly below the national average of seat belt use of 87%, at 82%.
The message we can take away from this is that while Utah is a safer environment for highway safety than most states, we could see even more improvement if we each took a little more time to wear our seatbelts.
